I knit Sweden!

I have begun with the country that I am currently living in, as this will be a big project. My reason for doing this! because this is the year, that like my dear friend "Angela" I would be doing my BA year for degree if I hadn't left my HND in England. So I have cut out all the research and the 1000's of wasted sketch's that you to do!
(you wouldn't believe what a collection requires)
Thus to get to my final project university talking.
(I cut out, mood boards, technique etc etc)
And unusually for me, I have made a quick design sheet first.

Cont
The only reason for having designs, is that before Xmas I seemed to have so many projects on the go........(unusually for me! not...) lots of those knit ideas all in my head.
So to realive the stress I wrote them down, In my book that came with me from England. I had almost emptied it as it was full of all those JUST Did'NT GET TIME TO-DO,S. And luckily getting to work from home and complete them as an unpaid artist, the book is currently getting topped back up!
(I cant possibly returen to the British rat race, I need one more year!)
To make my name known.....
So I drew these out, as i figured it is quite a good concept, I sketeched them in £1 shop pastel and I used Monet's atlas for the flags.
And of course I am probably repeating what has been done before!.
But thats life?, nothing is really new it's all be done before. We should just all get our own chance at re-doing it! ( A little differently)
Canadian bikini will be fun!
(I think I will need to look closer at the flag as my maple leafs have a few to many prongs!)
We Can't all be perfect.....

Large Crochet

Close up!
Here is the 2ND part in my huge wall hanging and it's crocheted up quicker than I have cut the fabric.

On a 20 mm hook no problem and it's my favourite wooden one. So easy once you get going, and I'm using a different technique than usual. I would go into each box when making a fast knit but this time I am going into each top loop of the stitch. Accidental discovery when making the orange scarf but I like the way it raises the stitch.

Naughty But nice!

Emilio Pucci, I Just received their new colours brochure for this year (not that I can afford it) But I signed a mail order so they sent me there new for 2008! Such fun and my new nightie could almost fit. Maybe I should send him some of my work, as knit wear he is lacking.
Back view on Kate.

Front view I think its around a English size 10, so any offers to buy the nightie and pants :-0
Are welcome!.......
As I'm defiantly not a British size 10, I really need to research standard sizing as mine design seem to always end up big! or teeny tiny.

A bow for Vivanne

Here it is in close up!

According to all the fashion Mag's huge bows are in for this season. So I crocheted this orange scarf on a 5mm hook and three skinny yarns together, to tie in with my Vivianne Westward tribute dress.

Naughty Nightie, gets pants!

The "Full Monty!" Very sweet.....
Next step the edging! And the back of the dress I edged in the same way.
I started these on Wednesday morning at the school PTA meeting. 10 mm needle makes short work of any crochet project.

Knit Lab

This weeks "Knit Lab Sunday" was a busy one, lots of knitter and some new ladies. As always lots of coffee, lots of new knits and lots of conversation.
I even got recognised!, from the "Knitted by me" Book in the window that is open on my page. I was sat there knitting and a group of people on the out side looking in saw the book and me!, it was all very funny.
(With my reference, to being an animal in a zoo. I had forgotten about the book)
The "Gino dress" which is the pink striped one was referred to as looking like something from the "Odd Molly" range!, So as you can image very flattered......Maybe I should contact them?
I also got to take a good picture of my dresses in the window as Karin L, turned them for me.
(Good luck with the interview ;-)

Publicity

On my tram trip home yesterday, I spotted the knitting in the local book shop window, all looked a bit familiar. The black kit knit bag's(say that fast!), where at the book launch and so today took a walk and as I suspected it was Knitted by me! in the window display.....hooray. It also Say's watch on TV so I assume that the authors Catarina, Jenny and Cecile will be on TV!, So I will be watching.

Publicity, I loving it!

Peacock Blue

This is a Close up of the edging on the front and the back side panel, the ribbon yarn that I used for the back is a bit plain for the detailed front.
There is also a possibility that I could also lace up the sides with green Ribbon.

This is the back and I think that I am going to edge it! with the green acyrlic and ladder (type) blue/green yarn as I did for the front of the nightie. I think it defiantly needs just a little bit more to set it off as the front is so detailed.
Peacock blue!
Here's my cute baby doll nightie.
It's story
I started this whilst I was in England keep Gemma company on my last afternoon and seeing that It's nearly spring! (I'm hoping, global warming more like) I thought it's time for a bikini, but on the flight home I decided that I wasn't' keen on the straps, so I joined them with crochet. Where the blue ends is the original straps ending.
I filled in using the Ladder (peacock yarn) That's the reason for the roundness shape on the front part.
Thus turning into a pretty little nightie, SJP Inspired the episode when Carrie and Samantha go under wear shopping for Jack Burger!
It was already a halter neck (Hence origianl bikini idea) so I just attached a crochet back strap and then crochet down to make the plain back part.
Adding Ladder yarn edging at the end to set off the front and neck line. I will now begin the back.

An excellent start to January

Me!
My first week back to "knit lab" (My regular knitting Sunday) And to my surprise I'am the current window display! Of course shock!!!

I forgot my camera;-(, so I took this on the Monday when the shop is actually shut, so the lighting is not so good as the window is usually light up.
But I wanted to show my hubby before he flew.
(long story he broke his foot packing)
I know!
How........
On the corner of the bed whist packing his case!
Enough said;-)

One finished Wall hanging!

"So 2007"
Here is the almost finished wall a hanging. I did add a crochet edge to the top, thus making it easy to hang. Part two is a going to be a matching wall hanging but in crochet using 20mm hook, The only difference being now I'm having to recycle the kids old clothes! as I knitted all mine for the 1st.

To many projects!

Just too many projects!

This occurred to me yesterday. As I was busy swapping my knit projects about, sorting though one carrier bag and another choosing the project I wanted to take on my travels.
(In my nice knit bag)
When I stopped to actually count the plastic bags that where scattered about containing many knit starts and not any knit finishes..........
My list starts here
1) Tank top (Went wrong! Xmas stress I'm blaming)
2) Scarf for Vivianne Westward for a massive bow
(I need to wind up more of the skinny wool, as I'm knitting with three strands that's taken from a machine knit spool)
3) Nightie (baby doll)
4) Large rag Crochet hanging (I need to cut a lot more fabric up for this!)
5) I'm crocheting all my ends and left overs of mixed yarns to make a Spray Sample for my art.
So much for my two major maximum rule(knits), on the go at any time!......... I like end results and I like starting the next so my projects flow. I know where to leave things and when to come back! If it's not working(it don't happen often;-) but if so I'am happy to frog it! Flog it!
(whatever the "Bitch N Stitch" phrase)
So what's occurring! I guess to put the rains on stop blogging and get finishing.........
6) I forgot my Aeroplane knit and take off in a flood of snow/slightly nervous, but also with the piece of mind that any country to take off in Snow(from a run wise prospective)
Sweden is a good one.
That also need's unpicking, as it was in blue and white. Not my colours and honestly not really sure where I was going.;-)

Big knit

Yes it's me!, in my big head phones....... they work fantastically in drowning out the family noise. I am not keen on picture's of my self but it is just so you can see how big the needles actually are. And just how tricky they are to use!, So here's me casting off.
It's going to be called "So 2007" as its my recycled clothes from last year, hence the obvious title.
The idea is, for it to be a wall hanging. I picture a white room, blank walls and this textile hanging on the main wall. I am going to crochet the top edge so that I can thread a curtain pole though it, to mount it on the wall.

It's the 2ND week of January and life is starting to get back to normal and so this weeks tram, train trip I have been making a Nightie the cute baby doll type.
Pub has a kinky dept called Ooup's and this was inspired by their range. Peacock coloured variation, I have used Ribbon, ladder type and blue and green acrylic yarns the broach was given to me by my Friend taken from a £1 Primark sale top and she hates bling and I'm a mag-pie for sparkle, perfect thanks Carmen.

My holiday knits (Xmas stress buster)

Handy tip
An excellent traveling knitter tip, I think I read this in the "Simply Knitting" mag that I subscribe too or else someone told me but any how I'll share it when flying obviously my little bag of tricks( Needle's, Scissors, Pins) has to go in my suit case. And sometime when I fly I just like to knit samples etc nothing major but they knit up quick and ending is a pain without my scissors so this idea food pack sealer comes in very handy. Especially using that ladder type of yarn as it just drops of the needles. It is a handy tip that will come in very useful for future flying.
Knit twist- it's a scarf with a difference, whilst in England I decided to practice on the round needles the type that are joined with a piece of plastic string. Two attempts before and they just seemed to twist slightly and not a neat knitting on a round is meant to be!
Third time lucky NOT! as it twisted so much that I couldn't undo it! I really need a lesson in how to use these as I'm obviously doing it completely wrong.

The crochet flowers (rounds) was just a last minute thing to use up the left over yarn.

The Knitted recycling on my Super sized needles has grown some.......
K is for knitting
This FACT featured in the "Daily mail" that I read on the flight home from England, so Gospel!
It's good enough for the stars (It makes me giggle this as they always type JULIA Roberts!)
I recon if you Google a famous knitter ,then she will be the 1st hit?
It said "in" for 2008, pick up the sticks! and start to knit a great natural stress relief!

Happy knitty New Year 2008

Recycled old clothes, I have already got to the spring cleaning (Well Winter wardrobe DE-clutter) and so the yarn that i have made is the rag from my cut up and not fit for the charity shop clothes.
Well I guess they could have gone in those Green Humania bins, but I have this terrible habit!, "Of, Just one more wear syndrome" And it never actually gets to the charity shop. So it is a little drastic, but took no time at all to cut up and here whats knitted up so far.
And thats the 1st job of the New Year!
It given me a good inspirational idea, it looks like a blind (the kitchen bathroom type) But I figure that it as a print on a blind would be excellent for a kid's play room or bed room.
