Knit lab Window

Canvas titled Pocket watch.

I Still have to pinch myself when I visit knit lab and see my dresses in the window, But this time it's a Double Wammy, my art too and a textile sample that I recently made from vintage sowing cotton.

Big thanks to Lenah..........again;-)

I have been so luckily living in Sweden and meeting so many kind and supportive people.
My list would actually almost be as long as my British friends! and I have many,I moved plenty, and I talk alot!(I know, never shut up!)

For this I am very flattered, knitting really does get you every where.

PINK

Button choice(maybe)
The cerise pink is the beginning of the under petticoat.

More about my winter skirts progress;-)

It's huge touchy feely and most of all pink. Tonnes of shades yarns and even a little ribbon. The jelly fish tentacles part is in two layers. I did the 1st and then decided it was not enough/ not thick enough.
The eye cords came after the tentacles, I have only covered one quarter so plenty more to make to get the effect I want.

The style, is in a wrap around. So the size can be adjusted and work has begun on the underlay
(petticoat part) so your pants won't show, if your Kate Moss not necessary! but for the rest of us coverage is a good thing.
The big button is a hand made bead I brought from Pearl Huset for 10kr(£1) so I think that's
what i'll use I just need 3 more. I will look about for some alternatives first, maybe four different rather than four the same, choices choices.........

Crochet is strange places

Winter pink, here are my knees at my hubbies band practice, the two singers feet at the rehearsal studio getting ready for their 1st gigs last week.

Big pink has grown huge, further post will show it's big pink progress.

A busy Heathrow and a que of curious children staring, trying to work out just what I'm making.

It also managed to get frisked, that's a 1st for my knitting. But security on the way home thought that they needed to check it the huge bag of pink. Personally I think the women just wanted to take a look;-). All they had to-do was ask?.

Production line of eye cords

Think pink

The skirt is coming along quickly as I guess I'm having fun.
An awful amount of pink, ribbon glitter an sparkle, fabulously over the top.

Today I'll begin to attach the eye cords, as I guess i'll be making as I go so I can roughly see how many I need. And so I don't get board of making the same thing over and over.

It could be a good time to teacher my daughter, just how to make an eye cord;-)

Think pink!

A wrap around style of skirt, I have put button holes in to for extra security. It will end up quite heavy from experience, so I will need to secure it well.

Think pink!

Bored of my Christmas shawl!!!, my jumper and completely fed up with my Blankie Mania!!!
So It's back to what I do the best, my free spirited, free form.
It's title will be Winter Pink or Vinter Rosa;-)(Jelly fiske) When I looked though my stash, what's left of my stash (Good job the knitting festival is soon)

I seemed to have a lot of odd pinks and a big ball of white acrylic
(God know what I was thinking when I brought white! Long time ago) But pink and white make up the colours of marshmallows, so my new project is going to be a big pink one.;-)

Nysta

The Nysta book launch
Date thur Sept 11, time 5 till 7

I saw two familiar faces, Gunilla and Seiogan
(Apologies for my spelling)

Nina had a really busy knit cafe running alongside the book launch.

No one else had I met before, at previous knit meets.(Maybe "Sticka" members) Im not one yet, this I must get around too.;-)

Nina who must have been a model at some point as she is extremely photogenic and very pretty has launched two Swedish knitting books (At the same time!)whoo
One book is for adults/teens and the other for children.

Nysta is tiny knit shop, but an Aladdin's cave of mixed bright colours and textures with lots of hand dye's.

I had seen the scarf in the picture above, in the Ameila's host magazine article and was keen to ask "Did Nina stock such a thick yarn", but to my disappointment, it is actually three yarns mixed.

But I really love the scarf so I still might
give it a go any way.

Hurtigs knit cafe

Knitting in pubic!!!!!!

Tuesday from 530 the knit cafe meets,
Previouslly Gino knit cafe on Oden plan. Precious I am about my Gino's memory's. it was there I began knitting with people and meeting all my Swedish knitting friends.
My 1st dress got designed and completed at Gino's.;-)

But change has to come and we needed to move, decisions decision so Hurtigs, Drottningatan.

Hurtig's
has been running for a while and It really hasn't been that popular.
(yet!)
But i'm glad to say
It's picking up now, the weathers getting wintry and that Raverly has been linked to but a few members...........

Some attending are Stockholm knitter members, a few are just knit cafe junkies (like myself) and on this day Monet my daughter.

The day of the picture was the most members ever, because it was known to some that the Amelia crew where coming. Word spreads fast in the knitting world;-)

I'm far left with an extremely cheesy smile. We where laughing at the time as the photographer was very funny treating us like children in a school photo, we even played musical chairs to get this picture right. Not to mention this looks like a stage but we are in the middle of very large and extremely busy coffee shop.

All good fun!

My dog ate my knitting needles!

Luckily the knitting stayed intact, but the ball of yarn destroyed and needles he chewed the ends off!
And then surprise, surprise he slept with all the excitement, dreaming about my Blankie Mania no doubt. This was such a funny coincidence as Karin had showed me on Raverly a link/post to a cat that ate a Knit project and now I can post the same but with a dog who has a taste for bamboo.

Blankie Mania
is now on hold as they where my only size 3.5 needles as I don't really do tiny.:-)

Creative, Knit Lab Sunday

The Graffiti knitters where in the house!(Uk saying) Well four of Stockholm's graffiti knitters, their could be more. No names are mentioned;-)
I love it, the free spirit the bright colours no damage ever done
(Unlike bad spray graffiti, we could argue on well done Graffiti as I like this form)

Just a bright interpretation, on what ever its is they put their touch too.
Lots of acrylics I know ;-( not everyone's cup of tea but cheap acrylics, let me be as creative as I like with out having to be precious.

If all my dresses where made in wool, their would only be one a year....... if I was lucky!
Back to my point sorry I drifted off for a moment.

The graffiti knitters (well mostly crochet yesterday) bright, cheerful, free, young and having fun with no rules. Just pure knit social enjoyment.
I am a huge fan, now I'm totally inspired to go back to the lettering I 1st tried to knit nearly two years ago, for an art project (to much skill for a then New-be)
They made it look so easy with the crochet!

Watch this space.

Free form poncho

Chunky sticks!
Tough to get going but once I got going, pretty easy. Below step one.

I have attached four needles together, to get a huge hole in between each stitch I have used a 20mm,15mm,25mm,12mm a grand total of 72mm, attached simply with a rubber band on each.
Slightly tough to knit with, tricky but once you get started ok. And luckily for me I have big hands necessary to grip the huge needles and not loose any stitches.

The Yarn I have used are a mixed bunch that can in a pack in the local Hobbie shop(Panduro, Stockholm) from the January sales at 49kr. Bargain I had saved the pack in my stash, ready to make my winter scarf/shawl.

Blankie mania goe's one step further

This week I have been mostly? Not getting very far with my Blankie mania as I had discover that I went wrong and instead of the squares being diagonally attached (best way to explain) Like rows of the card hand, diamonds.

They have in fact ended up all square.
This I was OK , as it's my own version and like I could ever manage a pattern! (Just never going to happen) Even when I tried hard........

But my issue was, that once all the holes where filled how could I make it bigger, this teamed with my dyslexic brain I couldn't work it out, my idea was almost to start again and join them.

Until I spoke to Karin

On asking (Knit lab) Karin for her suggestion, it was really quite easy.
So I'm off again, filling in the squares.

It is really quite addictive;-) I just wish it would grow, that it was huge already.

Blankie Mania update

I have made a huge improvement on following the Blankie mania Ravelry pattern, explained to me by knit lab Karin.
But to my disappointment I have gone wrong......... that will teach me, for thinking I got it.
I love it and it will be a practice piece as of course I'm true my style it's back to front in places etc etc
Yet again a but! how this happended
I started filling all the gaps by picking up the stitches
(A new skill learnt, as I always usually attach with crochet)
And it's turned into a large square, with no more gaps to fill! that's not supposed to happen. So as Holmer Simpson would say DOL!
