Too cute, can you image children of today, when the book just talks about making gifts for your family and not about how to make your self look 20 when your only 12.

And even at twelve, dare I mention a doll.
Unfortunately for the children of today they are faced daily with the
popular ever growing media magazine frenzy,
That they don't really get a chance to play with dolls.

They are to busy trying to look grown up, because they want to be the next Brittany.

Mind you on the bright side,they could then be like me. Buy a new one when you get to 35! regression or just simply having fun.

This is defianlty Some thing that I could re create for my Blythe.

Inflation or popularity, but the price went up by a whole 9 pence quiet considerable in 3 years.

Making something for mother? A cute blast from the past, 1972 before I was born!.

Lady bird was a very British tradition when I grew up, that to my knowledge has been sadly lost (not in print). Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that they are no longer published;-(.

So I figured for all those 70's mad knitters out their, I would share some of their contents.

Old descriptions always seem to be the best, and image. For me Knitting and crocheting free-form the images always seem to be much easier to copy from, if need's must.

Mini knit cafe with Karin and Segun, mini being the word of the day as featured here is my mini Ikea bag, knitting whist taking a tram trip.

Ikea is Swedish! correct me if I'm wrong, yet the UK has mini Ikea bags!
(You can tell the size as the Hulk green is a regular double knit)

These bags are not yet available in Sweden so I'm in(like designer).
This little bag I guess I could pop on Blocket (Swedish E-bay) and make a fortune!;-)
But it's such a good little project bag, i'll just keep it for me..........

A visit to I knit London

I knit London

I did, well I didn't actually knit(I finally got there) , I think that their web site is fab but the shop, I was a little disappointed.
The lady that severed me was very nice, polite. But I was in their a while and I love love love to chat about yarn and all things yarn art related.

(Well actually, basically, I just Like to talk)

Excited about finally buying my pink plastic in person!

But nothing like the swedish knit shop (knit lab or Maria's) no time for conversation
I was to be honest just a little bit disappointed, two customers only so not busy,
not closing, not lunch!, we all have those day's I guess.

In Stockholm buying a skein of plastic (pink jelly) I think that some conversation would have flowed, What for, why, when and how will you use it?

But who cares ,
I got to I knit London
(Good times and two lads!)

It's ironic that I'm British, but my knitting/crcohet is the most swedish thing about me!

I Cant wait to knit up my plastic.

Up close, lovely free forming stitches and knitted! yes Knitted, unusual for me.
I added the tie's to make it easy to wear, so that it would fall from the shoulder As the fabric feels as if it would do,
I have just washed and softened, now it's happily drying.

I almost finished Carmen's shawl, finally! Ironically having to fly it home (again) instead of posting it cheaply in England, as I forgot to pack

my emergency knit kit!

Just need to finish my ends, I need to blot this to soften the linen (flax) before posting. It's now a very belated birthday gift (May)

The drapes, that could have been knitted!
What happened to my thinking cap!

This was the part that I wished I had knitted on my large broom stick needles but I didn't have them with me in the Uk, they where unfortunately home in Sweden;-(. The fabric draping took a while, a huge wobbly ladder and me at the top armed with a staple gun. Several assistants, needed for the drape-age and reloading of the magic staple gun. Not to mention the supporting me at the top of the wobbly ladder. A couple of hours, a few hundred metres(Well that's what it felt like!) not to mention arm ache, Job done. But on inspecting my photography, it occurred to me that here I really could have whipped up a knitted White silky drape and made much better use of the fabric!
(I'll save that for my idea's box)

Sari fun, Completed One project a scarf/shawl ( knit gift from lenah) Mango moon, spun silk the off cuts of actual sari's, hand spun. http://www.mangomoonyarns.com/ Luscious colour's a real purple metically look, and soft as!

I thought that it may feel a little rough(Twisted fabric and all)
And even by it's appearance, simply it's quite thick. But it was very soft, two rough spots in the entire skein.

It had a really nice feeling for crocheting with, I figured I'd crochet it, not knit!
As it was so silky and could very easily slip from one's, knitting needles.
The unavailing colours as you worked the yarn very cool, Red , green and blue. Changing as you went along with each row.

I think that you will agree very pretty;-)

Knit Adventures

Thursdays knit adventure

karin's garden, a pretty magical place that boasted home made carrot cake and fresh coffee whilst we sat and knitted in the garden.

Well I crocheted and she began a few baby bootee stitches, I talk so much it's tough
to concentrate on a patterned knit.

Crochet stitch emergency , Coffee with Celine

Yesterday was a day spent doing the things that I like the best.

We met for coffee
Cute little retro coffee house in a mini shopping centre, central Slussen.
Chat and a cool down the weather has been hot hot hot.

Then a crochet lesson/well not really a lesson as she is already making her own
stitch's! )0j 0j 0j

Just needed some help, with the
lesson of the emergency end stitch.

That when your beginning (learning/relearning) it's so easy to forget that little end of the row finishing stitch.

Then a sight seeing walk, Stockholm is to pretty a place not to look out on such
a glorious day.



Then lunch in the out door Medborgplatsen open square, many eatery's to choose from followed by more crochet I began my flowers in the garden free-form, pictures above progress so far.
