Sleeve update

Sleeping Rasmus, quick get some knitting done.............
My sleeve so far, their are so many ends and textures that Rasmus thinks its a huge dog chew so crocheting is a little difficult and the dress is getting too big to keep it completely on my lap and out of his reach.

Angela

Slowly but surly is a good saying for me at the moment, since the puppy Rasmus arrived I have curved my creativity. My husband pointed out that we had had him for a week, I was even un-aware of the day/date. So I'm not getting very much done, but at least I'm getting him into a kind of routine(fingers crossed). The school run should be interesting next week;-).
She (Angela salsa) is so colour- ful. I'm a little frustrated with my progress but just 3 more weeks and he gets his final vaccination and then we will be much better as I can tire him out with long walk and get to see everyone I'm missing and get a little more knit active.
I fitted a back panel of straight row(side to side) crochet, then either side of the panel I re joined the yarn and then went up and down the back panel. Thus to give detail, I then used the gift ribbon to make the beginning of the sleeves.
Hopefully today I will make progress on the dramatic sleeve I have planned.

Knit and crochet sample

I made this for my art and part knitted on one 20mm with one 15 mm needle with green paper, peacock ladder yarn and green hair bands, the top part is then crocheted on a 12mm hook.

Angel update

My camera seems to be having issue's and that's not good as it is my favourite hand bag accessorie. I think it just needs some T,L,C a bit of a lense clean, I hope and nothing to drastic as my birthday is a while off yet..........
I have edged the whole top with the purple yarn but I think that a purple edge on each sleeve would set off the pink and give it a tidier finish.

Charlies Angel's

This week I have been mostly crocheting my 70's style Angel top. My version of an Angel Top
(To the best I can remember, and making it a little lower on the chest)
I remember the baby's wearing this style of top, or maybe my memory was from my mums old pattern collection.
I used to like leafing through the baby knits pic's.
(she used to make welcome new baby knits, matinée being a common word)

But then I remember the jumper she started when I was 11 and by 14 still no top and this was the type with a big needle and a small (So not a lot of detail, but four kids!)
I never got that jumper!
Lemon or yellow with cute knitted baby tights.
Mine is an adult version and this time I knitted the back and sleeves at the same time, because working without a pattern some times I find it hard to remember just how many stitches and rows I actually did.
Yes and I here you say, I could count or maybe write it down.......but that would be too easy:-)

Road trip knit!

Landings lovely easter cakes!
My cap, navy and red. Bellow shop brought hat and piece of card for template.

Well actually a train trip to Uppsala(If I'm honest), to collect Rasmus.
My daughter got sick so (a collection from school on route) And she came too.
I have not been to Uppsala by train. So I excitedly packed a few knit/crochet projects hoping that I would get some finished.

It was all rather old fashioned I had packed my trendy baskets full.

Rasmus
As the 1st night in a new home with a new baby (Rasmus) was to say in the least, hard work!. But he is extremely cute so the sleepless night I will forgive as I should imagine the month ahead will see little else.

Back to the road trip......

The train to my sadness, was a lovely comfortable large train and with few passengers on route, so I
could spread out my knits but unfortunately the trip is quick 40/50 min's I think.
(Now that's a knit addict speaking)

I almost completed my baker boy hat. I had originally not been happy with the visor part. Monet had a shop brought baker style knitted hat so I tried to copy that.
(To the best of my ability) Images so far are above and of course on of the new arrival.

A Knit lab meeting!

I visited knit Lab this week and met a very interesting man Ralph Herrmanns (Google him I did) and his dog. A little flirty but good on him. He knew more about my home town (lord Reading) than I and the art conversation I was just lost in he knew so much and I really do know so little. We British know so little of our heritage
(That's my option, but this is something that I am very aware of now living international and meeting other cultures)
So Gallery trips are next on my schedule, once the puppies settled.

He has written many books and listed people from the art world he had known or met. Stockholm just seems to be full of creative people, I was cheeky and sent him some pictures of my art. As the blog wouldn't work for him

(so I can get away with this entry, the flirty/cheeky part).

He liked my random not my structured pieces and he recommended an artist that he was trying to buy a piece from Ghada, and advice on gallerys to have my own show.
As coincidence would have it, I think she had a piece at "Pricked" extreme embroidery(New York) When I asked Leana how she knew this man , It was all to do with Karin who works at Knit lab wanting to mate her dog Mollie with his fox terrier.

What a strange world, good karma..........beautiful puppies.

Ghada so Google her, I just need to work out how to contact her as Ralph assured me he would tell her my name.

Salsa gets shoulders straps!

It's title is going to be Angela as I reminds me of my very extravagant friend from England.
It's bright fun and extremely clashing and defiantly not the norm! ;-)
(So that just about sums her up!)
My one and only knit buddie from home;-(
(On my return I will change this a knit cafe is defiantly in line for Reading my home town)
Now I'm working on the back and some sleeve's. I like the crochet present ribbon and will probably use for the back and then the sleeves I have been saving all the orange's packaging (Red holey bags) so some recycling in in order.

Beaded

Fun beads a crochet front and a stripy knitted back. I made it in a similar way to the Swedish flag top.
1st) Crochet the front square adding the beads before I knitted(5mm hook).
2nd) The back I knitted rows of plain as if a scarf (48 stitches size 8mm).
3rd) I attached using crochet and then picked up with crochet at the top to pull the boob tube in.
4th) Crocheted a cord to hold the top up, ribbon opptional.

And it's not a quick knit, I had actually made this the last holiday (Sports loff) but just didn't get around to finishing it. Sunday after spending the afternoon with my knit family at knit lab(knit cafe) I was on a role, I completed it pm!.........good feeling finishing off my current projects.

This week I have mostley been Crocheting

Lots to do to finish it, but this is how it looks so far. I have a lot of holes to fill in but that's the fun of free form you just never know what your going to end up doing or where?:-).

My Art sample has now changed form (Wall hanging at first) and is kind of looking like a dress for salsa dancing or a Spanish (but not so traditional). It would definitely not a very comfortable to dance in as it's made from yarn, gift ribbon, cut up old stiff fabric and some knit sample squares I made a while back and never used.

New York cool

A cherry twist with a difference.

Taken in the Herseys shop, I hate the chocolate but love the design Idea of all the packaging and on display they had dresses that had been made either using the sweets them selves or the packaging. This was the only one that I could get close enough to take the picture.

Baker boy hat

Every year we head to a festival and this year I will have a cool hat to keep me warm. it's not quite the dress I planned but that just gives me something else to do.......
My daughter has been listening to a lot of Bob Marley and I guess that's where the influence has come from. My (it went wrong) Union Jack crochet is now a baker boy style hat.

Last weeks knitting!

This is more an Art piece than a knit cafe project, structure and texture.

It's usually titled this week "I have been mostly knitting" but I still not back up to speed my 5 days away, my daughter and my husbands birthdays and we get the puppy next week so I have been a little busy and sadly this has affected my knitting time;-)
So this is a catch up blog of where I am knit wise and what I'm workling on.......

New York Knitty! (not)

Looking out of Central Park
Gilbert and George!
Cy Tomley

New York New York! start spreading the news, the news being! "that I didn't find any knit shops".
I couldn't believe it due to the Debbie Stroller mania I figured that they be everywhere. In the craft streets that I found they where lined with beads stores and beading stores and no Yarn.
No nutty knitters, not one!...... did I spot whist having my numerous Starbucks/Pret and regular diner store coffee.

I loved the city the busy streets the huge building and Central park was really nice even in winter, It even snowed a little my first night to my surprise.

But as far as knitting and fashion these link in my world, nothing!!! Not one fantastic out fit did I see that inspired me.

So in the end, it was the surroundings that did inspire me. The huge sky scrapers, it seemed as if in places nothing matched they mixed fairly old buildings right next to bran new shiny one's. It was such a mixture of architecture, I just loved the Juxtaposition.
The concrete against With a winter bare naked trees of Central Park inspired me more than any of those cool New Yorker Types of people that I expected to see.

Extreme embroidery , titled "Pricked" is the exhibition to see. If you get to New York before the End of April.
