This week I have been MOSTlY creating....

This week I have been mostly creating a Huge Blog Post.

I hope that you have 10 minutes spare instead of the required 5 and more importanblty a huge cup of Tea or a rather large mug of coffee.;-0

Begin........(Pee stop?) best to be comfortable before commencing to my long catch up week.
 Mary Mary takes shape
I have began the trask of stitching together some of the textile sasmples that I have created.  The grass/feild skirt is the start and I am really enjoying fitting the pices like a giant jig saw puzzle.

I am also already thinking about where to exhibit. I was kindly offered a place at the Henley Arts Festival (HAT) Knit shop.  But at a price and I really feel that I can exhib for free, after all the dress will be ART to inspire and not for sale, so to pay to promote it really didnt make sense at this time.

Acrylic here, acrylic there... there really is acrylic every where.......

Here are some of the shapes and texture that I have created.
It's a mixture of yarns I'm not a yarn snob and yes a lot is acrylic which I really love, as it means that I get to create vast project at little cost.;-)

Farm Animals
As luck would have it I found a huge bag of them in oxfam and these are just what I needed to complete my grass part of the dress.

I mean I would love for some home made (Alan Dart) if  your reading my blog./ type of knitted sheep to add to my project.   But as it goes little animal knits I'm not up to making.

So feel free to pass on to me if you have any that I can add to my vast skirt.

Big project/ graffiti knitters Stockholm

Walk this way.....

The translation is rough taken from there blog/me helping a little with one of the Stockholm graffiti knit group.

Stickkontakt, here goes my mini translation

Jack is guilty of a massive virkvåg (crochet) which is at its hottest in the Stockholm area but also extends beyond its borders with countries such as England and Germany. Hazardous chunks of virkverk in early May to be transported into Denmark, hoisted up with lift
and installed at higher elevations.

The result is to beholding to you all summer as part of Walk This Way, an international street art exhibition in Køge. Read more at

http://www.koes.dk/index.php?id=447423

Google translate was very helpful here.

 Basically
Street art involving huge truck/harbour.   That will be part covered by knit and crochet.
In my true style I had a box ready to go.....
Ironically Home Sweet Home graffiti has headed back to stockholm , where it will travel with Stickkontakt to Denmark.

Who knows maybe ill get a to plan a mini break to the opening;-)

 Recycle recycle

What was once a crocheted bin, is now a plant pot.

Knitted Textile Awards Showcase 2010
(I took the text from the web site above/unforgivable, I missed the name?)

The aim of my project is to create Techno-Gothic fashion. This style has both Techno and
Gothic elements. When these elements are combined together, I believe a new style can be
created. To express this style, I have used hand crafted and digital techniques. As my
garments are both hand and digitally manipulated, I believe they appeal to a customer
who appreciates the dramatic impact created by the fusion of Techno-Gothic. My garments
are designed for musicians and performers who have the confidence to wear dramatic styles

Below Pants

 http://whatnottocrochet.wordpress.com/2011/02/07/practical/
The exert below is taken from this very entertaining blog above.

The blog title where this beauty was found reads: “Crochet, Comfortable & Practical for Girls”. Where to begin exactly? Yikes. Not sure how comfortable or practical this design would be given the lumps and bumps the tampons would create under a  pair of pants or skirt but  then again, who would notice, right? Insert sarcastic smirk here.

All that I could think about was VPL? more like VPTL
 (Visible pant tampon line)
And finally before you have fallen to sleep.......

Mary Mary Quite Contrary..........

 Mary Mary

New dress, yes a dress........
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary,_Mary,_Quite_Contrary
Been a while, its been mostly bits and bobs since returning to the UK.

But it's time I feel that a new dress is in order.(It's been ages)
No reason,(Henley art fare!) I have done well exhibiting my Stockholm dresses but just feel a little bored with my choice.

Abel Coal(Recommendation) food leaflet, no expense spared when it comes to designing.

Basically,
Sun
Sky
Grass (flowers)

So far bits and bobs pinned to the mannequin , I really like to work this way.
It works eventually, enough pieces to make the dress shape.  Then the putting of them together with crochet is what gives the shape and the structure.

Basic theme colours

Green grass
Blue sky
Yellow sun.  Flowers , random colours.

Angel wings.

Eye cord city, I'm extremely paschal to the common eye cord.

Roses

Grass panels of green
I really need to stock up here, as the green is running dry from my stash.

Eye cords a WIP

Patch Pig

My daughters piglet, she had a little leaflet that showed you how to make little knitted hamster houses, dog jackets, etc etc.

But the chip of the old block(old me) that she is ........

Here's her WIP ( The knitting needle photo below) was very quick in the taking.  I can a sure you that no pig was damaged in this process.  This is a pig jacket in the making...... and it 's not a guinea pig fancy dress, dressed up as Mary Shellys Frankenstein.

busy busy my catch up life and crochet blog..........

A love for EdinburghThe dead space that's between the city street the hill/gap then the castle at night its just breath taking/ like hog warts the castle is in the air. black all around.  Very cool. funnily reminded me  a little of stockholm Gamla Stan cobbled old town and some of the architecture very similar/Gothic I guess.

Edinburgh mini break with my teen, I have been very lucky and visited quiet a few places but it seems never close to England so this years mission I set my self, train trips to the following.

Scotland
Ireland (fly maybe!)
Wales......(once a day trip in my youth) no memory's just a train trip;-(

Edinburgh, a beauty.   I wasn't sure that I had any idea of how it would look! never really thinking about it, but it was a real juxtaposition of old (cobble) and Modern (Parliament building)

Took a train (A mission)
You really need to know where your going? have done the trip before, then easy but 4 minutes to spare when we got to kings cross
a panic.  Saying that, arriving in Edinburgh all forgotten.

Book review
Wind the bobbin up, the book title cracked me up, I was very aware people where looking at it, with ore!(or pity)

I'm a little weird(never) I pick up charity shop books on the colour of the cover the illustration or title.  I never read the back as like a film trailer it ruins it!.
Not at all a funny take on marriage, as imagined but a serous side of what we(women) give up and gain two sides of the story, a good read.

Knees to wind
Knits
Train trip (of cousre any long travel is a plus when your a knitter or a crocheter)
I forgot to wind yarn? Deeeeeeeeeer!!

But managed with amicable space;-)

Began a pattern of cousre, why I still don't know progress went well and then miraculouslyI ended up with half the stitches and half a hat.
Quick fix by me but sub standard;-(

Here's my "About a boy hat" (Jean Moss pattern)
I felt that the wool beautifully soft and
a lovely colour combi was just to thin for the project?
my personal opioion......(no offence Jean)

Cup cake Scotland................
As good as they looked, scrumptious.

Crochet dresses that hit the fashion cat walk, Just how granny used to make them......

Train trip meant a free selection of magazines and papers, I even used my time to collate a what's new , what's on and simply what I liked blog.  Magazines I have always loved but now wool and canvas I love more
(only so much cash) So a free selection, supplied by travellers a plus;-)

Crochet Dog

Colour in your own wall paper? I love this, now it would be no good to me as teenagers are perfectionists but the toddlers that are so free, no judgement I would have loved this little left behind arty reminder of just how young and free they used to be.
