Retail Window Displays, Knit Fest Frenzy.........

Primark

From Low End Primark to high End Accessorizes, it's all gone knit crazy. It seems every window display has gone knit crazy..........

I'm featuring my two favourite, Primark as I just love the huge printed columns that have the knit printed on them and even the colour scheme that's greys pinks and peaches.

And best of all completely max'd out with knit. Be it shop brought the link then could inspire some to take the sticks and create there own flower or scarf.

Or the fact that as long as knit wear is IN (what's in stays)
The yarn shops should hopefully do well.......

(Better off by the interest of the new knitter if only for a scarf as once the bug bites the stash increases)

Knitting is big around the world.

Crochet is my world.

This is an advert for national hand knit week? something like that but the concept is a winner in my book;-)

Accessorize................

Knits..............

This really is the Knitty pretty of the city, it's so in your face, large knitted letters.

They are a beautiful shop packed with the modern autumnal colours, that it of the turquoise/jade and purples and reds, plently of pom-poms are always a big hit.

With there prices in store (high) no expense spared for the window display.

What a great idea for window ad, its a knit innovation.

An outfit from The Village...... or just freeform crochet

The Village 2004

by M Night Shyamalan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Village_%282004_film%29

For those who watched the film, that featured the hooded scary outfits. My latest project, once on the mannequin really reminded me of this.

my latest re-do
2.
(This meaning that I have used the same material but in a new way)

I'm always recycling my canvas, but my knitted dresses....... I figured why not!

This was once a dress, sitting OK on a mannequin but unwearable in life as it just pulled down and didn't have the desired affect on the person as it did the mannequin, so simply I cut it in half.

I made a poncho a hood, hence the Village reference for those who have seen this film.

As well as a poncho I also think that I'll get a free-form shrug out of the original sleeve/shoulder part;-)

The wooden spoon makes for an excellent head prop, no expensive spared.

The bottom skirt made the poncho part
and the hood was the once waist part of the dress in the YouTube below shows the original milk made style dress.
I'm not quiet sure what I was thinking with my original design, well basically I wasn't, they just grow.

Recycling at its best, turning unwearable into wearable.

Skirt

I'm now knitting! yes knitting an underskirt, boring round and round stitches, it maybe tedious but I really like the result.

Below Red and black

This was also a really early skirt/ like first few weeks of crochet, something I'm pretty
precious about as I think that you should always have reference to show that your skill has advanced.

But this untouched can be a shrug , scarf or top;-)
re-think......

Things some time have better intentions than you have/had planned.

Knitting Outcasts

http://theoutcasts.co.uk/

Learning

Well its plain to see that I have not learnt how to! follow any type of pattern.
I managed parts but without a picture to follow I was a little naked, not literally;-)

But I did try.

The outcasts/guest leader ran a finishing group. Finishing in a knit world, so out of my depth just a little.

Apparently crochet chains can not be used for everything;-).

And I learnt, mattress stitch.....
....seam less fun.

And to turn
! Oj Oj

And sort of how to pick up stitches and even how to kind of attach a sleeve.

This will all come in very handy if ever knit should become my crochet;-)

It was great fun, my 1st knit class.....good to be home.

This week I have been mostly

This week I have been mostly getting my son for uni ( no easy task)

Above Graduation Stockholm

From school leaving July then Country to now.......

My 1st born has officially left the nest 18 years in the blink of an eye.

It's all change from now;-)

Sink or swim springs to mind, but a good parent/parents, I think are the ones who just lets go.(Easy to type than to do, but I'm getting there)

Awaiting all the drama that may follow, may not............

It was a really strange day. A strange place a few Ikea bags
(basically his bed room content) And I left my son not evening knowing where the emergency exits where!!! weird.

It's only just sinking in for me, bean must be pretty shell shocked. But like most things in life we manage;-)

New Block stitch crochet

I phone case.
Folksy shop I will soon have back up and running, hopefully.

Rasmus the rat race of the UK he's worn out, just to much socializing;-)

That and so much change, he may be reaching for the doggy prozac shortly but hopefully the extra exercise with all his doggy friends will suffice.

Cookie doe and cream in a blankie form.

Knittings a big part of this family (No kidding), comfort blankets we are never short of.

With my collection
of random browns and creams that just reminded me of that classic comfort ice cream and nice homely memory, if one should be needed.......

The perfect leaving home gift, I made bean a uni blanket.

Cutting it fine, below my legs, covered by crochet making the blanket as we drove, completing it on route to uni. The gifts final stitch as we drove into the car part.

To much excitement!

The sweet stuff always helps at stressful times and Mark & Sparks new dessert hits the spot. (Tiny so calorie free, obviously) My must try recommendation, the spoon is meant for Barbie, very cute.

Crocheted always helps with my emotions, just knit/crochet away and its almost some thing that you can concentrate on so you cant think of the sad things or if you want to dwell you can mindlessly stitch away.

Your passion your choice.

Reading chronicle

Outcasts, KIP, Jacksons Corner , Malcolm in the middle;-)

For it's135th Birthday, the weird thing is that this project will end up in the Jacksons archive of history and if it's made 135 then no doubt it will make another 100 years and I would have been part of a group project that will be mentioned.

How cool, Historic knitting;-) Great!.

Ps as for what I'm wearing it can only be put down to the fact that we have been home two half months and I still don't have a mirror on the wall................. bad!

A Big bold knit event for Reading.

(loving the retro glittery green sign, hand made nothing like a little glue and glitter)

1 large cake and a hell of a lot of candles.

Community knitting/crochet at it's finest.

Project Jackson's corner 135 years

A Big bold knit event for Reading.

Outcast Kira and Suzanne(Jelly) in action.

Myself taking the photo, myself be crafty in the knitting dept of Jackson's corner!!, I never would have imagined (not in 135 years)

A 1st for me to stitch on knitted candles as basically with my projects crochet chains are used for everything:-)

I did imagine worst case scenario, I could make a little picket fence with a crochet chain and prop the candles behind, but luckily the stitch on was pretty easy once I got going(good teachers) And at the out cast wed knit night had successfully attached most of the candles, Lots and lots of people made light work.

Being part of a group project when all ages are involved is so much fun.

I love the knit politics of such events, I would love to study a degree just so my dissertation could be written on that exact Topic. Explained a little clearer the way Old and new and I don't mean age, approach the craft they do.

In a nut shell, Why we crafty ladies (and men) do what we do, the way we do it.

Modern day knitting or simply art a breathe of fresh air, breathed back into what was sadly a dying tradition.(no more)

The launch of the Jackson knit event was packed, young and old running all weekend so pop along if you are local.

My contribution.

Large balls make for large cakes.

It's all pants!!! (Kidding)

Loving my blog title

Pants (found these whilst sorting my art space)

I know I keep mentioning the art space..... Harping on

" But I am just so happy about having a space on my very own".

Pants couldn't be further form the truth, I'm currently involved in some amazing knit/crochet adventures.

The outcastsuk (huge) Huge cake that is. And even a possibility...........I wont mention it as ill be jinxed, but something very very exciting to follow. (Hopefully)

http://www.facebook.com/outcastsUk

I actually designed something of cousre I will not end up making it as that's simply not the way I work. Mind you one day........who knows.

My Blythe may have one in miniature as a little test run. Since I have moved home to the UK they have been left redundant on a shelf. They had a run in with my good friend twins little girls (there eyes lit up/the twins that is)

There hair got messed and the expression was not of happiness they are not you common
barbies was the phrase if real they would have shouted;-).

Poncho

Kind of Sherlock Homes meets the common camping kite.
(hood inspiration)

Fingers in many pies

Me to a T

So many ideas and can only make so much at once so seeing spaced has gotten a hell of a lot smaller my one mannequin holds three on the go projects.
(literally as it goes everywhere I do)

I can not believe how hideous the front room wall paper is, it has been here for 20 years or so. That's in a project file titled (must get to it projects) wallpaper when I can crochet!!!, Exactly.

Birthday cakes

I'm going round and round in circles a bit like my life really;-) 10 steps forward 5 back but we are getting there.

Garden wise

Skip number two filled this weekend.

Largest ball of wool EVER

Below Technical measurements for my second tear, that are actually now both complete i'm just a little behind on my blogging.

Top layer round to go.
