All you need is LOVE

Project Graffiti, yes another attempt at my lettering, this time I'm crocheting the word love.
My inspiration the
"Sex in The City" movie, when Carrie redecorates her apartmtnt she hangs a rug on the wall and yes you guessed it! It has LOVE accross it.
I think was Paul Smith?(not 100% sure) But I like it...........

Jelly

My Progress so far on my extra long sleeves.......

Not as far as I'd like to be, but for me knitting on a round is just so tricky.

The next sleeve I attempt like this, I think I will have a go using the double pointed
needles and see if I find that way any easier.

I knit Sweden(Blythe)

Jelly- progress so far pretty good

Currently working on the sleeves and I'm knitting both arms at the same time.

Not literally at the same time, a few rows on each so I will end them both around the same time.

Knitting them on two round needles (size 8mm)

My quick knit scarf is completed. This was made using a 20mm needle and a 5mm.

Blythe Cosy Cape (1972) aka Mabel

Mabel

She finally arrived and so little knits are my next big project.
I just want to finish Jelly and the Sverige Scarf and the Alice in Wonderland dress.
I also have a Pom Pom sat in the bag ready to tag with. The projects are mounting;-)

So I plan to use the next few days wisely and hopefully by the weekend project Blythe can commence.

The photography started as soon as she came out of the box, she has her very own flicka account, awaiting her adventures.

I will post the link on a future blog post

Jelly

Jelly

I made the skirt part as one piece. Then next step the collar, I made this Using the fluffy yarn. I Just crocheted a band this I made with a 8mm hook.

Then I attached the doubled up blue cotton to make the back spine part, 8mm hook again.
Next I picked up the stitches
(well added them) On to the front of the collar using a round needle so that I could be a little fiddly with the stitches.

Then I knitted the stripes with the left over yarns
(Red Heart mainly)

Once the back and the front where at the correct size. I used crochet to make the side panels I used a crochet big stitch so that you have a bit more room for movement.(This is around a Uk 10)

Size 10 fitted to the actual mannequin, I usually tend to knit up a little bigger but this is purely for fun and not for me to wear
;-)

That is Unless I have a clown day.
(And I also need to loose a few pounds)

I love the clown colours

Mothering Sunday (UK)

Mothering Sunday

So in other words a perfect day to do my favourite yarn thing. Not look after my family as I do all year around a days celebration just for me.

Sit with a cup of tea and my perfect little rows of knits and purl's
(If I'm feeling adventurous that is)

And this week I have been a little busy with starting a few new knit/crochets projects.

The house is empty the teen still sleeps my daughter and husband are off Horse riding with
my puppy too.

I am about to commence my knitterthon of me....ness

Once I have completed my post that is;-)

Book review

Jelly up-date

Progress so far on Jelly

The Red Heart bulky is making this a quick knit (As they say)

The skirt goes off at and angle in crochet, I like angling the bottom verses a straight edge, I thinks it's just much more interesting to the eye.

I discovered how to make the waist band checker effect completely by accident, I'm not actually sure what I did, but I like how it sits on the mannequin.

I then used the 15mm round needles to pick up the stitches and knitted beginning to add the skirt panel.(Red flecky, fluffy yarn)

Then I added the waist band, using cotton and acrylic yellow to make it a thicker yarn
.

Jelly

New project

Spring green/Jelly red....................

I'm in need of some colour/something colourful

Progress So far, I just began with the stitch and I'm flowing.
I have no Idea where I'm going, where the stitch will take me!
But that's half the fun.

Watch this space!

New for me

I Ordered some yarn www.1-2-3Stitch.com ($)

Discovered a web site that has the Red Heart Brand, bulky big balls of acrylic and very reasonable.

Debbie New

Debbie New....... who?

I read her name on the I knit London web site. So I tried to Google her
all I got was a load of other Deb, Deborah News and not any on this one.

I managed to find her 1 big book on the Amazon site, a Hard back at £50!! So unfortunately I can't buy that at the moment!

But some times with Amazon you can have a look at some of the pages, but typically not with this book;-(.

I even tried official web site but got nothing?
(pc skills are not that good!)

Does any one have any more info about the Canadian knitter.
I found these two on image and I love them;-)

Conceptual Crochet with Keys!

Free-form

Here is a piece of crocheted free-form that's came together, as a funky cat walk top. I competed it a few weeks back but hadn't yet gotten around to popping it on the mannequin.

And I think this type of work needs the structure of a bodice, to show the work. I used two rolls of cotton (well I think, as it was from the charity shop)
It feels almost like string but not so rough/
strong cotton at a guess.

The white was a ball of yarn that was almost like
shoe lace but skinny? I used a few crcohet hooks 8mm and a 20mm I think:-( Loosing my memory...........

These I mixed together and added some old cool keys!
Not practical in any way and only for the likes of a Kate Moss type. My reason for this is that one arm hole is for a very skinny arm.

Conceptual Crochet
would be a good descriptive term for this piece, as I haven't thought of a name yet.

Pheniox get cuffs

Phoenix the shrug gets cuffs, I picked up 27ish stitches on each end of the sleeve part and knitted on a round.

Very tricky as the round was two big with no give as the needle where very tight as old plastic.

It's a good job acrylic is so forgiving as I kept having to tug the stitches. 9 rows and a cuff. Next step stitch my ends.

I must invest in one of those kits that you attach different size needles to the cord (That's new and flexible). All the knit cafe members seem to have them, just not me. Stocked at Maria Yarn;-)

Snow now rests on my knitted graffiti

On my dog walk yesterday, I took the walk past my Crocheted graffiti. Its still up as it's been about a month now. It still made me smile on approach and the walk was a lot harder than usual as Stockholm has finally had some proper snow fall.

To my surprise snow rested on my graffiti! so I did double the dog walk, as I had to take Rasmus home and then get my camera so I could share this;-)

How cool/new things happen to my knitted creations with no help from me.

This week I have been mostly knitting a Gold Shrug

I'm back, my weeks dry spell/break how ever you would like to describe is over, I'm back on form............ my daughter now 12 my husband now 36 all in one week boy is march expensive.

Thankfully my puppy is well on his way back to full recovery;-)
My paintings back on track and I have already made my daughter a navy blue soft chunky pashmina.

I have made a good start on my golden shrug and began the big project of Alice. (Alice in wonderland, out fit!)

It's a quick knit stitch that I am using one 20 mm needle and one 8 mm needle and I discovered some thing new about Stockholm this type of knitting/stitch is not recognised.
I have had so many people on the trains ask me what it is I'm doing with two different size needles.
I have explained my very big in the 80's(In England) quick knit stitch, I wonder who started the stitch and where it originated?.

Spring Flowers

It's snowed again in Stockholm!
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh

No sooner as the spring starts to show signs it's starting, it snows again......

So I've taken action, I Googled some spring knitted flower just to get my self in the mood for spring. This being when the snow actually stays melted and lets the buds flow through.

Tiny but cute pictures

Knit lab (End of an era)

An end chapter to a big part of my Stockholm’s knitting era…….

(It’s all happening too fast)

I leave in July! Stockholm that is, hopefully back to Uk but currently that’s a little shady ;-(

Newsflash!!!!!!

Knit lab has now closed, it’s so sad that’s such a high end store. It just could not make enough to survive in this market with the current times/markets.

In hind sight, the regular buyer that being the knitting lovers/addicts the ones that knit all the time. Their is just not enough of these knitters/crocheter too support all the yarn shops that Stockholm hosts.

Scandinavian craft, Nordic knits go hand in hand, like the chicken and the egg. You can’t have one with out the other the woolly sock the mitts the abundance of knitted jumpers for the fisher men!

But unfortunately it seems that these must be getting made in bulk knit machine or shop brought not so hand made;-(.

Maria's (her hand paints yarns are to dye for)

Nysta an Aladdin caves of fabulous touchy feely yarns

Knit lab high end, a Gucci, if you like, of yarn shops.

Then Adding Acrylics to the mix we have Vincent’s(Oden plan)

(And as you all know I love acrylic)

I can fund my art with these………

But when I made my nephews pram baby blanket, baby alpaca was best!.

But in reality, it’s only winter & spring/warm knits times the yarn sales boost meeting the needs and demands for hats and scarf’s, trusty socks.

And that just wasn’t enough to stay afloat and keep that high end feeling, without compromising the stock or modern premise’s.

Knit lab wasn’t just a shop but a place I love to visit/Sunday I have many memories of Sunday knit cafĂ©.

My Stockholm knitted family/my little knit community, expats head to the university’s to learn Swedish, I headed to the knit cafe. I could almost claim to know all the Swedish knit terms………

Its not going to get me a hotel or food, but knitting supplies not a problem.;-)

And I will miss it……….

The icing on the cake as they say........

Recent little knit projects

My dragon knit
(Home graffiti ,my dinning chairs are a little boring)

These are things that I have forgotten to post, as I'm having a barren dessert spell on the inspirational knit front, I am still ticking so I'm still knitting.

My new Pom Pom waiting to go tagging..........out and about in Stockholm

Rasmus
My sick puppy he is suffering from such a bad virus at the moment that he has to be everywhere I am.

As he thinks he is my third child, if he was small enough to put in a baby Carrier I would do so.

But he's huge!

Twice yesterday he insisted on sleeping on the computer extension lead. so twice I lost everything as he unplugged the PC.

Maybe not the best place to sleep, but he is so poorly I forgive him;-(

What no knitting?

Diary entry March 09
I for the 1st time since I began
I have absolutely no knit projects on the go!!!,

I'm usually snowed under.........;-)

Pardon the pun (Stockholm/snow)
Recently I posted, that I needed a break
(Stay at home artist not exactly a chore)

But I still put pressure on my self and I treat every project as if I am being graded at Uni!
So that's three years almost a pass/degree but no official course just the school of experimentation alisonart.com

I needed a break, just some light hearted projects like a new stitch my cable attempt....... and of course my Pom Pom making.

But nothing that I need to think about too deeply.

Fresh eyes, time for some new research!!!
As I think sometimes I do get a little lost heading from one into the next.

Don't get me wrong this inspires me and is how I usually work, but at time's and guess this is one
of them I feel the need to sit back and do some research.

My books are piling up on my desk, my google list grows longer and currently the canvas side of my art seems to be full time. So something needs to shuffle;-)
