Merry Christmas to all.......

I'm home:-)

A little prep-ping a lot of visitors, its all wrapped and not the usual quiet Stockholm Christmas we had been accustomed too, but I can tell you, its pretty nice.

It's now knitttttttttt time.

My finished gifts are as follows many blankets, my skirts nearly there and I think that  it's about time that I made my self a hat and scarf, my own Christmas gift.
To me from me.  Photos to follow of gifts, funnily another post with little crochet or knit.

Basically I just wanted to say a big BIG thank you to everyone that's been part of my Big knit/mostly crochet adventure of 2010..................

All I want for christmas

My kind of gift wrap the crocheted type
(Window display at Mother Care of all places)

knit and crochet adverts are everywhere, I love that so many shops have used it in there Christmas window displays.   Promoting the craft at this time is year it's amazing how much has changed in the last few years.

This is about my 5th post promoting yet another huge chain store using crochet.

Keep it up (they maybe in it for them selves) but the more people see it, it may just be enough to give them the edge to do something them selves;-)

Home made home (Just like kirsty)

 Blythe

Blythe (Brought my own gift, to me from me type)

Nearly Xmas and unfortunately no time to knit/make for my doll.
so I treated my self to a little peruse on Gina's "This is Blythe site"

Stuff, "welllllll it is nearly christmas"

 Hectic

I certainly manage to busy myself with stuff...........

We all love a snow day, oh yes the weather has followed me, when I left stockholm I had thought I had seen the last of the white stuff for a while..........

WRONG

And Luckily I kept my coat and Primark has affordable long Johns.

Had this book for a while, so this snow day I had to take a break from the bulk knitting/crochet and read a little.  My hand (intensively crocheting) it's playing up,  achy I hope it's just the cold;-)

I'mnot that old! that the arthritis kicked in, it's just over doing the craft and the cold combined.

I love a Martini , so that's a winning title, tis written by a super model and I'm  more wash and go;-) but I wouldn't judge a book by the cover as they say.

But it dose have some relevant stuff..........  Stitch N bitch

Funny part about the regulars sat in there seats (oh so true)

  Rasmus

 Be a doll.......

Very relevant to me, a little about Blythe.  She is a doll that's not so well known, unless like me you've researched or brought the dolls that you never had as a child.

My excuse;-)

  Below"this is me"

Relevant again because as I type I'm sitting through a Twilight marathon and everyone needs an
 Edward.........
Jacob.........
Carlisle........

My skirt collection is expanding and a few of the graffiti banners are now becoming skirts.

A little mess up as this is actually the inlay from the book,(above review) it  reminded me of knitting, knitted stitches.  So I figured it earned a place to on my knit blog.

Quick and easy Baby Blankets.

A little crocheted baby car seat blanket, ready for my new nephew or niece that's due after xmas.

Crochet graffiti gets recycled into a skirt

Vivacious

The big mistake........not any more.

My dyslexic S a 2?

Any how its no longer a problem as on the round who knows what it spells and if you stair for that long to work it out, you would be pretty noisy.

http://knits-and-pearls.blogspot.com/2010/08/washing-line-crochet-and-precious.html

Pick up the stitches almost like knitting on the round only it's crochet.

A bottom warmer for sure, and I mist say needed........

What has happened to the UK a country that the thinnest jacket was required in

winter, it seems the season have shifted.........

I'm wearing my Swedish Jacket;-(

I thread the elastic through using a large darning needle, to help keep shape and hold up if the stitches should stretch
and using the stitch that I have tried to demonstrate below cover up the elastic.

With this stitch.....

You are almost going back over what you have done before.

Party Dress gets a re-vamp

Potential party dress gets an overhaul

I made this last xmas and have just never been happy with the sleeves deciding that I could wear this as outrageous at it seems if I played down down the straps and put a black t shirt under (long sleeve of cousre) I figured it could be wearable.

Major problems

where as follows
1) I had no idea how I'd made the dress.
2) I could not just unpick (as the stitches where some how side ways)
3) had none of the original yarn to help fix.

Problem solved I cut off the sleeves (believe me I spent an hour trying to work it out! before I committed such a crime.

Below picked up stitches roughly with a life line.

Added an edge, as neatly as I could...... hiding the bitter mess of the insides, I'm showing a very selective picture as basically it was a major patch up.

Just add crochet

Hat hats hats........ Rasmus and Monet (who had literally just woken up) try to model my knit wear, Rasmus did his best to be human so he didn't miss out on the photo opportunity.

38 34 38 a little too burlesque?

Modelling my Edward top, even actually wearing a bra.

Not very model like but life like, trying to make it look like a real ladies a little bit of a chore.......this weekend job to give my mannequin a real figure.

Graffiti for skirts!

Vivacious has become a graffiti skirt,(prototype) this is the Dyslexic on and basically I decided that on a round who could tell what it actually said..........

So far so good, below £1.65 charity shop buy to complete this task huge acrylic

TOOOOOOOOOO MUCH ON

This mess applies to my life as well as my projects, I think that I actually need a time out.

Uni work OCA

I really must get on with some uni work this is going to be the longest ever chapter, I just can not come to terms with just how awful hand dying is if !!! if you just have no interest, I just want the end product and I totally respect the work that goes into the love of dying
I JUST DON'T LIKE IT!

Rhubarb and custard

Gets a waist band of huge proportion

Just how many projects should one have on the go at once, it occurred to me lately that I have not finished any thing in a while..........

And that the reason for this is I just keep moving on.....it's a little knit crazy.

Rich is very patient with the fact that a lot of the time there's no seats as I seem to spread out like ivy, I'm every where.

I need to get a grip, we need to fit a tree in here and I can't
bring back out my knitted one, can I ?

It's just to much even by my standards (To much yarn, never?)

Simply threading the elastic through, with a darning needle.

Lamp Shade cover,

Clock cover,

Desk lamp cover,

Just add a little crochet.

These are a few on my favourite things...............

How to below

Knitting & Art

Blog search Knit daily, random Google and found this beautiful knitting portrait.

It's history..........

One of Greuze's great strengths was his depiction of children. They appear in his many scenes of family life at all ages, from infants to adolescents. This little girl of the lower class—her clothes announce her as such—has been given the job of knitting a stocking, not one for herself, but for an adult.

In the eighteenth-century it was not unusual to put girls to work. They were taught to knit and spin as young as four or five so that they could contribute to the family's economy. How long has she been knitting, one wonders, for her to fall asleep, needles still held in her hands?

Article and photo taken from knitting daily.
